Blogger and Blogging

Using blogger has been a lot easier then I expected. I thought it would be hard to create your own blog but the steps that blogger makes you go through are very easy to follow. From choosing a template to adding different gadgets its very easy to understand and very user friendly for people who might not be familiar with computers. There were only a couple of things to do with the website that I couldn't figure out at first glance, but on their help page there are step-by-step instructions on how to do everything with the site so it was not hard to figure out.

A few of the blogs I checked out before making my own are:
http://www.nationofmillions.ca/ --> This is a blog about hip hop music and celebrities. Music videos and articles about celebrities are posted throughout the day. This blog is really interesting if you are always looking for good new music and you enjoy hip hop music.
http://www.lighthousehockey.com/ --> This is a blog that I found that shows updates on hockey news. There are articles posted everyday about the NHL and all the games that happened the night before. Blogs like these I think are very useful. It makes it really easy for someone to pick a sport that they like and only have to hear the news on that one sport. It is different than if you are watching "Sports Center" or if you're on www.tsn.ca because on those you have to filter through the things you don't want to see to find what you are interested in. Also blogs on sports are very useful because you can be as specific as you want in terms of looking at a leagues blog, a teams blog, or an athletes blog.
http://fivefamiliesnyc.blogspot.com/--> This is an interesting blog that I found that reports about five major mob families living in new york. They post articles from newspapers about people in the family going to jail for various things. I'm not sure if the site is accurate about everything they say but it is interesting to read about. I think blogs like this are good because, while they might not be telling you important information, it is at least a fun read.

Blogging is a very good new way for people to get information. There are millions of blogs covering just about every topic you can think of. There is information all over the internet and I think what makes blogging so useful is that it is specific to what you want and you save the time of looking through many different websites.

I think that the advantages for using blogs to get information instead of a newspaper or a magazine are that you can be as specific as you want for what your interested in, it is free, and they are updated all the time so you can check the blog a few times a day and still have new things to read about. Some of the disadvantages for using blogs is that you cannot always be sure of the credibility of the information you are receiving, they might post a lot of unimportant things that you don't want to read that would have not made it into a newspaper, and it is nicer to be holding a newspaper or magazine than to be starring at a screen...in my opinion.
